3. Hazards Identification
WARNING! HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED OR INHALED. CAUSES IRRITATION TO SKIN, EYES AND RESPIRATORY TRACT. POSSIBLE BIRTH DEFECT HAZARD. MAY CAUSE BIRTH DEFECTS BASED ON ANIMAL DATA.
Health Rating: 2 – Moderate | Flammability Rating: 1 – Slight | Reactivity Rating: 0 – None | Contact Rating: 1 – Slight
Inhalation: Inhalation of dust may irritate the mucous membranes and respiratory tract. High concentrations may produce effects paralleling ingestion.
Ingestion: Toxic. Large doses may produce palpitation, excitement, insomnia, dizziness, headache and vomiting.
Skin/Eye Contact: Causes irritation, redness, and pain.
Chronic Exposure: Excessive use of caffeine may lead to digestive disturbances, constipation, palpitations, shortness of breath and depressed mental states. Possible teratogen.
4. First Aid Measures
Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Get medical attention.
Ingestion: Induce vomiting immediately as directed by medical personnel. Get medical attention.
Skin Contact: Immediately flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contaminated clothing.
Eye Contact: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention immediately.
5. Fire Fighting & Accidental Release Measures
Fire: As with most organic solids, fire is possible at elevated temperatures or by contact with an ignition source.
Explosion: Fine dust dispersed in air in sufficient concentrations is a potential dust explosion hazard.
Spills: Clean up spills in a manner that does not disperse dust into the air. Pick up spill for recovery or disposal.
6. Handling and Storage
Keep in a tightly closed container, stored in a cool, dry, ventilated area. Protect against physical damage.
7. Exposure Controls/Personal Protection
Ventilation System: A system of local and/or general exhaust is recommended.
Personal Respirators: A half-face dust/mist respirator may be worn.
Skin/Eye Protection: Wear impervious protective clothing. Use chemical safety goggles.
8. Physical and Chemical Properties
